SPATIAL AND TEMPORAL OCCURANCE IN THE ROMANIAN CARPATHIANS OF ANOXIC OCEANIC EVENTS IN THE MIDDLE CRETACEOUS AND THEIR CORRELATION WITH OTHER TETHYS REGIONS [OCEANROC]
1st stage Spatial and temporal distribution of Middle Cretaceous Anoxic Oceanic Events in the Eastern Carpathians

Activities:
1.1. Carrying out a synthesis of previous studies describing Cretaceous anoxic events in the Middle Cretaceous of the Eastern Carpathians in order to determine the study area.
1.2. Identification and position setting of representative sections of the Middle Cretaceous in the Eastern Carpathians, followed by the description of these segments.
1.3. Geochemical, mineralogical, petrographic, sedimentological and micropaleontological (calcareous nanofossils) laboratory analysis for the samples collected from the Eastern Carpathians.
1.4. Initiating a database which complies the interpretations of the resulted data, obtained throughout the first year of this project for the studied sections of the Eastern Carpathians.
2nd stage Spatial and temporal distribution of the middle Cretaceous Oceanic Anoxic Events in the Southern Carpathians

Activities:
Activity 2.1. Carrying out a synthesis of previous studies describing Cretaceous anoxic events in the Middle Cretaceous of the Southern Carpathians in order to determine the study areas.
Activity 2.2. Identification of representative sections of the Middle Cretaceous in the Southern Carpathians, followed by the description of these sections Activity
2.3. Laboratory analyses of collected samples from the Southern Carpathians. Activity
2.4. Interpretation and completion of the data base with al the obtained data in the 2nd achievement year of this project for the studied sections of the Southern Carpathians.
3rd Stage - Correlation of Global Anoxic Events from the Middle Cretaceous in Romania with other Tethysian areas
